Ophthalmology

I am Dr. Michael Masyk, an ophthalmologist committed to improving eye health globally. I had the honor of establishing the Ophthalmology Department at Kundembo Health Center, reflecting my dedication to accessible eye care.

My journey in this field took a significant leap forward at the end of 2023 when I embarked on a transformative trip to Gunjur, Gambia. 

Over a period of three months, I conducted vision screenings for over 700 children in two schools, helping to identify and address various eye health issues. 

I am eagerly looking forward to returning to Gunjur in November this year to continue my efforts. My goal is to provide ongoing support and improve the eye health of the local community. 

At the moment, the possibilities of offering cataract surgery for the local population in the near future are being explored. There will be an update soon!

In November 2024, the first 50 free Cataract were performed! 50 people can see their family and loved ones again!

November 2025 will be the next possibility! More information soon!
